Walking Mindfulness Meditation

Painted wall outdoors

If you’re anxious, stressed or worried, meditating can help.

Mindfulness meditation can reduce stress by lowering the cortisol levels in your blood (yes!). And walking helps relieve anxiety. This walking meditation is the perfect combo, right? Like Hannah Montana – the best of both worlds. Meditating is not something that only “new age” people do. Almost every successful person says they meditate regularly. (Look it up. I was surprised when I did).

The mindful walk podcast episode

Meditation means: to engage in contemplation or reflection. Yup, meditation is for everyone, ’cause everyone can contemplate. You don’t need any special equipment, and there is no wrong way to meditate.

Think about this walk as an (anti) anxiety meditation. It’s amazing what moving your body does for your mind. You can do this as a morning meditation to start your day, or after work to relax before bed (turn off Netflix).

There are different meditation types and no matter which one you pick, meditation sessions help you focus and bring a sense of calm. The more you practice, the easier it becomes to:

  • Manage stress
  • Increase self-awareness
  • Control anxiety
  • Improve sleep
  • Gain perspective

Mindfulness and meditation help you how to slow down your racing mind, let go of negative thoughts, and calm your mind and body. This episode can help you get started with meditation if you’ve never done it before. It’s not weird. It’s simple, easy and makes sense. Plus you’re walking and releasing endorphins.

Meditation has been around for thousands of years (older than me, even). It helps you focus on the now, and to sit with your thoughts, sensations and feelings without judgment.

Don’t be shy. Give it a try. Don’t cry. It’s time to fly. Even if you’ve never meditated before, you can do this. It’s not weird, remember? Time to show up for yourself and try something different.
